About

Ari Brown
I'm a high school student from near Raleigh, N.C.  I've been interested in weather for about five years, after watching Hurricane Katrina flood New Orleans on television at the end of August 2005, and more so after experiencing the remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto impact North Carolina in June 2006.  Since then, I have experienced several tropical storms, and I assisted in the state response to Hurricane Irene as a Civil Air Patrol cadet in August 2011.  I also came within 15 miles of two dangerous tornadoes during the deadly outbreak of 16 April 2011 in North Carolina.  I became certified as a Skywarn weather spotter in April 2009, and took an advanced class at the end of March 2011.  I ran a weather blog with some other weather enthusiasts from May 2009 through January 2011.  I would like to study meteorology and civil engineering in college.
